Old Cwmparc

A view of the village of Cwmparc, Rhondda, based on a 1950s photograph. The view shows the Parc and Dare collieries, with the Bwlch-y-Clawdd Road in the foreground. Whilst there is little sign of the pits today, the long trains of terraced housing remain an iconic sight in the Valleys of south Wales. In the background are ominous, towering coal tips, framed by the majestic glacial corries of Craig-fawr and Craig-fach.
